Match Report:

After 23 straight defeats Welton Rovers had a new management duo in charge fielding numerous new signings. Credit to them as they tried to play “proper” football for the entire 90 minutes, their new keeper being man-of-match. Bridgy had new signing, giant central defender Kai Fisher on the bench. Fellow defender Rob Farkins was still absent with a knee problem as was skipper Mark Armstrong.

The keeper did well early on denying Ryan Crawford from a Kyle Tooze cross. Tooze then drew a superb save from the young keeper but he was powerless to stop Jack Taylor’s smart finish following clever work from Tooze. Five minutes later a home defender inexplicably handled in the box and Tooze dispatched the spot kick with aplomb. Liam Kingston dealt easily with 28th minute shot, then Crawfords header came back off the bar with the keeper beaten. On 40 minutes Kingston produced a stunning stop tipping the ball onto the bar.

On half-time Taylor found Crawford with a lovely flick and he slotted inside the left hand post HT 0-3 Tooze and Crawford missed a couple of early chances, the front three continued to link well.

On the hour the keeper tipped Tooze’s deflected shot around the post and five minutes late did eleven better to deny the same player. On 68 Kai Fisher made his debut replacing skipper Jamie Price. Welton then missed their best chance of the match, the striker blazing over the bar. Luke Newman and Brad Pfupa replaced Llewellyn and Tooze on 74. Two minutes later Liam Winter replaced Mike Duffy, Kingston then denied Welton with a flying save and in a final move Sully McKenna replaced Finn Koppa. With two minutes left a Preston Hopwood cross was superbly headed home by Jack Taylor. However the goal of the game went to Liam Winter who go the second game running curled home a superb direct free-kick.
