Bridgwater United Academy and Community Sports Trust are delighted to announce the expansion of their fleet of vehicles following their rapid success .
Bridgwater United Community Sports Trust have had an incredible first 5 months of delivery in the local community with successful projects ranging from Soccer Tots for 1-4 year olds & Primary ages 5- 11, to announcing launch of Walking Football for over 50s starting Saturday 13th Nov. Following a successful Summer and October Half-Term skill centres including Goalkeeping Specific Provisions. Weekly Outreach sessions in the Hamp & Sydenham area have been operating since the start of Summer Holidays, with a clear objective to improve relationships with neighbours & provide provisions to local youth where currently limited provisions such as BUCSTs exist. Due to the success and continued request from the young members to continue provisions, The Trust have actively secured funding to enable provisions to continue during the winter months within a safe indoor facility upon the Hamp estate.
The Trust’s new vehicle will allow the trust to provide its array of programmes for aspirational change to even more people around the Sedgemoor district as both staff & equipment are transported to extend the Trusts reach.
Alongside the Trust has been the successful implementation of United’s Academy serving Boys and Girls and providing the opportunity to access elite level coaching and resources. The Academy is considered paramount to the club’s success and integral part of our philosophy. Youth development is represented at board level through our Academy Director.
Bridgwater United FC has adopted a strategy to develop and coach the whole person to be world class. This approach is adopted throughout the club, youth to senior, staff to player. This is with the aim to develop not just the footballer/athlete but a rounded positive person in the community. The Academy will never consider itself finished or fully developed but consider its purpose to continually strive to set the standard of player support, and development (football, education and personal).
The Academy’s new mini-bus brings together the teams from our youngest to our Men’s and Women’s Senior Teams making their transport around the South West and beyond much easier.
Rob Liddiard, Head of Academy said, “Having the mini bus allows our boys and girls to easily access their games away from Fairfax Park and Bridgwater and Taunton College. It allows our athletes to travel together as a first team would do and ultimately fully understand a matchday and the ways to prepare for games.”
