Bridgwater United Football Club’s workforce has grown again with the appointment of their second apprentice since the Summer.
Dan Moore has joined Bridgwater United’s Grounds & Maintenance team, led by Head Groundsman Nick Crocker, on a Sports Turf apprenticeship ran by club partners, Bridgwater & Taunton College. This apprenticeship opportunity within the football club is in addition to the appointment of Freya Gudge who has made an incredible impact to Bridgwater United Community Sports Trust in a very short space of time within her community settings.
The latest apprenticeship, which is recognised by the Institute of Groundsmanship, will give the club further resources to maintain and improve a quality sustainable playing surface year round whilst also support the development of the surrounding areas at Fairfax Park so that the players and fans have best experience and facilities possible to enjoy their football.
Dan Moore shared his excitement on this opportunity, “I’m really looking forward to being part of the club. I had started off by helping the club out and when the opportunity to come on board properly I jumped at it. I’m really grateful for this opportunity to forge a career in ground care and be part of the club’s exciting journey.”
Club CEO, Adam Murry, commented “Bringing on board young, talented hard working individuals from the local community into the club is something that we strive towards. So to be able to bring on two apprentices in such a short space of time demonstrates our commitment to developing people and also the incredible growth of the club in equal measure. Dan’s role will be very important as we look to strive for a pitch surface that is one of the best in the national league system.”
Club COO, Ewan Greenhill, commented “The pitch is one of our biggest assets and has had significantly greater investment into it this season in order for us to have sustainable playing surface that allows our first teams to play the brand of football we want to. Being able to bring Dan on board is another major step in that plan and working alongside Nick Crocker I’m sure Dan will play a big part in the developments at Fairfax Park now and also in the future with our proposed Bristol Road development.”
