#United4Bridgwater campaign, smashes £10,000 target for charities
In what was a gruelling but exciting weekend, Bridgwater Town FC, and Yeovil United FC came together as one team, for the United 4 Bridgwater campaign which saw 60 players and staff, each undertake a marathon (26.2 miles) for worthy causes on Saturday 6th February.
Players and staff in their localities, ran their 26.2 miles in Bridgwater, Bournemouth, Florida and South Wales, including two 13 year old girls and one 9 year old boy to raise much needed funds for the three local charities who greatly support families and young people of Bridgwater.
The monumental challenge was set three weeks ago as part of both club’s response to support the Bridgwater community. “The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many in our society and it was our duty to play our part. We specifically chose these organisations because of the outstanding work they do and help they provide to people from all walks of life” said Bridgwater Town Chairman Bob Buckingham.
Adam Murry CEO of both clubs added, “It was an incredible and overwhelming effort from all involved, and I am very proud of everyone, especially as they only had 3 weeks preparation for this gruelling challenge. Our Football Clubs will continue to strive to be at the centre of the community, driving positive changes wherever we can. I would like to thank the generosity of all our sponsors, the media staff, my players and management staff and everyone who helped towards making our challenge a successful one”.
