Bridgwater United Beat Local Rivals to the Signature of Owen Humphries 
Bridgwater United are thrilled to announce the signing of exciting attacking midfielder Owen Humphries, who arrives at Fairfax Park from Nailsea & Tickenham — via a brief detour through Clevedon Town.
The 22-year-old playmaker becomes the latest exciting addition to Lee Lashenko’s reshaped Bridgwater squad and arrives at Fairfax Park with a growing reputation as one of the most creative midfielders in the region. Owen had recently agreed to join Clevedon Town after a standout spell with Nailsea & Tickenham. However, following conversations with Manager Lee Lashenko, he made the decision to switch allegiances before the season’s start and commit his future to the Robins.
Described by a former manager as “one of the best in the league”, Owen is widely regarded as a top talent at Step 5 and above — and his arrival represents a major coup for Bridgwater United. Humphries has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past two seasons. During his short but impactful stint at Nailsea & Tickenham, he won multiple Player of the Month awards and transformed the side into genuine promotion contenders, earning high praise from both teammates and opposition managers. Prior to that, Owen played for Frome Town in the Southern League Division One South, where in the 2022/23 season he scored once and registered 13 assists, helping Frome to a playoff finish and claiming their Young Player of the Year Award in the process. He also boasts experience with Brislington, Corsham, Larkhall Athletic, and Mangotsfield United.
Owen’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed at higher levels either. During the 2022/23 season, he was invited on trial with both Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday, while also attracting interest from Blackburn Rovers and Crystal Palace. During his trial spell with Birmingham, he made a notable impact by scoring in a behind-closed-doors match against Stoke City U21s, further underlining the exciting potential he brings to Fairfax Park.
Speaking to Bridgwater United’s media team following his move, Owen shared his excitement: “I’m really looking forward to getting started! Laz and I spoke and the project that was on offer here was too enticing to turn down. I’ve made it clear to a lot of people that I want to win another promotion this season, and I thought my best chance to do that was to be playing my football here at Fairfax Park. Up The Robins!”
