What comes around goes around and visiting Millbrook did to Bridgwater precisely what the Robins did to Tavistock in snatching a well-deserved victory on the road to add to the point from the 3-3 draw at the end of September writes Kerry Miller.

In truth this match will not live long in the memory, which is a shame as it was Jake Viney’s 200^th appearance and Cameron Gauci’s debut but from the opening ten seconds when referee’s assistant Ian Harley collapsed with a torn hamstring, it simply never got going and a single goal was always going to win it.

The intense pre match warm up was all in vain as the game was held up for some time but help was at hand as SFA Football Services Manager Megan Buller stepped in and saved the day with a faultless performance.

Dave Pearse and Karl Baggaley had a strong squad to play with and they should have been too much for the Cornish side who began the game in the bottom four but on a mizzly day where chances were thin on the ground and on a pitch which was still soft despite the groundwork heroics, they snatched the points and with most of the other results going the wrong way there have been better days at Fairfax Park.

When it did splutter into life Jack Wood drove wide then at the other end Gauci’s corner found Jacob Spence but he nodded wide. Jack Taylor then volleyed a Gauci cross against the bar but the action was sporadic and slowly Millbrook began to increase in confidence with Jake Foster looking busy and Cameron Mahoney going close.

Tom Llewellyn put in his regular non stop performance and combined with Adnan Hiroli and George King to set up the best attack of the half but the away defence coped and the chance was gone.

After the break it was more of the same as too many passes went astray and around the hour Mike Duffy was introduced and his cross was nodded just over by Hiroli before Millbrook almost took the lead themselves when Jake Foster was through but Ross Edwards was available and he somehow scrambled it away. Nick Woodrow joined the fray but within five minutes Millbrook scored when a corner was slung in and Ross Hamilton nudged it over the line with 14 minutes left. It was left to Jack Taylor to fashion the final chance as he escaped and whipped in a cross which missed Woodrow’s boot by fractions and the points were on their way across the Tamar.
