Dave Pearse’s injury and illness ravaged squad came from behind at Tavistock on Friday night to clinch all three points after what was a torrid first half but with two victories on the road in Devon in six days they have put the opening day defeat by a third Devonian side in Buckland Athletic firmly behind them.

The name of Bridgwater United FC has been a major talking point in non League football all week as many have struggled to come to terms with what actually happened to cause the game to be voided by the FA but after protracted talks in various departments the game will be decided on the night with extra-time and penalties if necessary.

Those local fans expecting a free ride to a tie with yet another Devon club in Ilfracombe Town on Saturday will be in for a shock as the Fishermen have netted 14 goals in their first three league games and sit proudly at the top of the embryonic Premier Division West table, two points ahead of former Western Leaguers Torrington.

Dave Pearse will once again need to perform a juggling act with what remains of his squad with exciting youngster Wellington Jimenez and the returning Josh Wadham not eligible to play in this round of the FA Cup as they were not signed before the original game took place. The club has also received confirmation Jordan Greenwood’s dismissal in the original match will stand and Jack Taylor’s sin-bin has been promoted to a red card so both with miss tomorrow evenings match, compounding the Manager’s selection troubles.

The Robins’ defence was superb at Tavistock on Friday night but they will have to stay at the top of their game as Brixham have a striker in form in Cole Harford who has netted six times already and their young and inventive side will bring no end of trouble with an old head alongside Harford in the name of Adam Dyson, who has scored hatfuls of goals in Devonian non League football.

Tuesday’s game kicks off at 7.45pm and all are urged to get there early as a big crowd is anticipated for what will be a unique occurrence.
