Louis Smith Joins the Robins ✍️

Bridgwater United have bolstered their goalkeeping ranks with the signing of promising young stopper Louis Smith from Corsham Town ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The young goalkeeper arrives at Fairfax Park with a growing reputation in the non-league football scene, having developed through the ranks of several respected West Country clubs. Smith began his youth career at Bristol Manor Farm, where he was part of the club’s Under-18 setup. His talent quickly saw him promoted to the senior side, where he made a handful of appearances last season, showcasing his maturity and command between the sticks well beyond his years.

Smith then joined Keynsham Town, where he etched his name into the club’s history books by becoming the youngest goalkeeper to represent the first team, making his debut at just 16. His performances for Keynsham were a highlight of their campaign, and he was subsequently honoured with the club’s Young Player of the Year award for the 2023/24 season—a testament to his skill, composure, and work ethic.

After a stint with Corsham Town during the 2024/25 season, Smith now makes the step up to Bridgwater United, where he is expected to compete for the number one jersey and continue his development under the guidance of the coaching staff.

Speaking to Bridgwater United’s media team following his move, Louis shared his excitement: “I’m really looking forward to joining a big club like Bridgwater United. Laz is a class manager and he has a clear vision for where he wants to take the team, and I’m eager to play my part in helping the club move forward and achieve its goals.”

With pre-season preparations on the horizon, Smith will be looking to make an immediate impression and stake his claim in the squad as Bridgwater United aim to make a strong push in the upcoming campaign.

Welcome to Bridgwater United, Louis! 🤝❤️
