Liddiard to Head up United’s Academy

The Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Rob Liddiard to the position of Head of Academy and Women’s Under 21 Lead Coach.

Liddiard who most recently was an Academy lead coach at Bristol City RTC has held various coaching positions at clubs such as Newport County, Port Talbot and Cardiff Met.  The UEFA B Licence holder also has national governing body experience having been part of Football Association of Wales’ Regional Squad and Performance Centre for Girls.

Alongside heading up the Academy for Boys’ and Girls’, Rob will also take on the day to day management of the club’s Women’s Under 21 Dual-Career Squad at Bridgwater & Taunton College. Rob will follow on from the great work of Luke Norris who will revert to his previous Under 16 position having stepped down due to increased work commitments.

Adam Murry, Chief Executive Officer and Academy Director, commented on his excitement towards the new era of the club’s academy, “The interest in this position was very competitive and it was vital for us to appoint the best candidate possible as the Academy is the future of our vision for football. Rob brings with him a wealth of experience and best practice from some top academies in both the Men’s and Women’s pathways. I am really looking forward to working closely with him to provide aspirational football opportunities to our children and young people.”

Rob Liddiard shared Murry’s excitement on his new role, “ I am incredibly honoured to join such an ambitious club. I am eager to pass on my experiences from working within academies and RTC Football to the players and staff. In addition, I look forward to working with everyone at the club and building a successful pathway for both the male and female teams, something which the community can be proud of.“
