Bridgwater United Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of central defender Sam Hedges.

Hedges, 22 a former Bristol Rovers Academy player was previously on Clevedon Town’s books having played some of his football at Cribbs FC. He also boasts Southern League experience from spells with Paulton Rovers and Melksham Town and has now put pen to paper on Western League forms having impressed the Club’s management during training.

The powerful Ashton-based defender will be looking for a place in the squad for our upcoming match on Friday at home to league leaders Tavistock.

On joining United, Hedges said, “I’m buzzing to be back playing again. Bridgwater United is a great club with great ambitions on and off the pitch and I can’t wait to play at Fairfax Park for the first time in front of the club’s supporters. Training has been competitive, it’s a talented group and I think recent performances illustrate how good we can be”.

First Team Manager Dave Pearse commented, “Sam is a great signing for us who has really impressed during his time training with us. He is a really good technical player with a big physical presence that will complement and add to what we have in the squad. I’m really pleased to have him on board as we’re not standing still, we will continue to look to tweak and improve everything we do. There is a long way to go until the end of the season and we want to continue the momentum we’re building”.
