Bridgwater United are delighted to confirm the appointment of Grantley Dicks as Assistant Manager ahead of the 2025/26 Western League season.
A respected figure in South West football circles, Grantley brings a wealth of experience both on and off the pitch. During his playing days, he enjoyed a successful career as a commanding defender, turning out for a number of clubs across the region including Forest Green Rovers, Gloucester City, and Chippenham Town. His no-nonsense style and leadership qualities made him a key figure wherever he played.
Following his retirement from the game, Grantley quickly made the transition into coaching and has already built a strong reputation as an effective and motivating presence on the sidelines. He previously worked alongside Lee Lashenko at Bristol Manor Farm, forming a trusted and well-balanced coaching duo. The reunion of the pair at Bridgwater promises to bring continuity, stability, and an ambitious edge to the Robins’ dugout.
Grantley also comes from a footballing family, being the older brother of former West Ham United and Liverpool defender Julian Dicks, a Premier League legend known for his tough tackling and passionate approach to the game โ qualities that certainly run in the family.
Speaking to Bridgwater Unitedโs media team following his move, Joe shared his excitement: “Iโm happy to be a part of the club. I’ve enjoyed working with Laz the past few years, so it made sense to come with him here to Bridgwater. This is a great club with big potential, and Iโm looking forward to getting started and helping push the team to the next level.”
With Dicks joining a growing and dynamic backroom team under Lashenkoโs leadership, Bridgwater United are well-positioned to mount a serious challenge in the upcoming season.
