Bridgwater United Secure Key Player Retentions Ahead of 2025/26 Season

Bridgwater United are thrilled to announce that five key players have signed new deals to remain at the club ahead of the 2025/26 Western League season.

Club captain Mark Armstrong, Harry Horton, Jake Llewellyn, Jack Taylor, and Haydan Chambers have all committed their futures to the Robins, reinforcing the squad with a potent blend of leadership, loyalty, and talent.

At the heart of the announcement is club captain Mark Armstrong, the embodiment of Bridgwater United’s “Whatever It Takes” ethos. A relentless, tough-tackling midfielder equally capable in central defence, Armstrong has led by example season after season. His unmatched work rate, physical commitment, and tactical discipline make him an invaluable asset to the club. Whether breaking up play or rallying the troops, Mark’s presence both on and off the pitch continues to be the heartbeat of the Robins.

Returning to bolster the midfield is Harry Horton, a former club captain himself and a powerful box-to-box player. Harry’s recent return from a 14-month injury layoff marks a welcome comeback for a figure known as much for his grit as for his technical ability. Comfortable surging forward or sitting deeper to shield the back line, Horton’s versatility and leadership will be crucial in the season ahead as he looks to regain full momentum and reassert his influence in red.

Another returning fan favourite is Jake Llewellyn, the dependable full-back who has re-signed for the club following a brief spell at Southern League side Exmouth Town. Jake is no stranger to the Bridgwater faithful. A loyal servant since 2017, he has amassed an impressive 241 league appearances in his previous stint and is widely regarded as a stalwart of the club. Known for his tenacity, overlapping runs, and defensive reliability, Llewellyn’s return adds both quality and experience to the back line.

Leading the line once more is the club’s talismanic striker Jack Taylor. The 32-year-old is not just a goal machine but a symbol of Bridgwater’s identity. From ballboy at Fairfax Park to senior goalscorer, Jack’s journey is the stuff of local legend. Having netted over 150 goals for the Robins, he’s now closing in on the club’s all-time scoring record. Last season, he led the line with trademark consistency, bagging 16 goals in 39 appearances to finish as the club’s top scorer. A sharp finisher and fan favourite, Jack’s commitment to the club remains unwavering.

Completing the quintet is exciting young winger Haydan Chambers, one of the brightest talents to emerge from Bridgwater’s academy in recent years. Still just 18, Chambers enjoyed a breakout season in 2024/25, scoring 7 goals in 30 appearances and showcasing his pace, directness, and fearlessness on the wing. A product of the club’s youth system, Haydan represents the future of Bridgwater United and will be looking to build on his strong debut campaign.

With these five key figures signed up, the club is well-positioned to build on recent progress and mount a serious challenge in the upcoming campaign. Stability, experience, and homegrown talent lie at the core of manager Lee Lashenko’s plans

Stay tuned for further updates as the Robins continue to shape their squad for 2025/26.
