The festivities kick off on Saturday when Bridgwater United Men host Buckland Athletic in their first competitive game of the 2021/2022 season. The match kicks off at 3pm with turnstiles and bar open from 12.30pm.
Before kick off Bridgwater United FC will launch their Exciting new custom made and designed mascot at this weekend’s festival of football that launches both the club’s Men’s and Women’s First Team for 2021/2022, and will no doubt be a hit with the club’s young fans.
The yet to be revealed mascot will take to the field for the first time when Bridgwater United’s Men’s First Team begin their Toolstation Western League campaign for the 2021/2022 season. The mascot will also be on hand to show their support on Sunday 1st August to the Women’s First Team versus AFC Bournemouth.
The club’s new mascot will be a mainstay of the community working for Bridgwater United Community Sports Trust whilst also plying his trade for The Robins on a matchday.
The football continues Sunday with a packed day of events. Bridgwater United Community Sports Trust host their inaugural Business League competition on the pitch Fairfax Park from 11am. A showcase of local businesses who are competing to lift the Bridgwater Business League Cup! This will be followed by Sunday’s main event which is the launch game for Bridgwater United FC’s Women’s First Team with their first home match at Fairfax Park versus AFC Bournemouth (2pm Kick Off)
Alongside both matches will be The Club’s new Community Corner with several organisations showcasing what they do at Fairfax Park, providing an opportunity to learn more about opportunities in the local area.
Community Corner is not the only new introduction to the Club’s match day with the club’s first Young Fan’s Zone in full swing all weekend to entertain before and during both matches. The Young Fan’s Zone will feature Fast & Furious Football, a fun & frantic inflatable football arena that will entertain the kids for hours. Beside that you can also test the power in your strike with the Power Striker activity.
At both matches the first team payers will be joined by two Grassroots football clubs who will partake in our Matchday Mascot Experience, giving them the opportunity to walk-out onto the pitch with the players, play on the pitch at Half-Time with small sided games and penalty shoot outs, and have their Match Programmes signed at the end of the match and photos with the teams.
