Sam Beresford Bolsters Bridgy 
Bridgwater United FC are delighted to announce the signing of striker Sam Beresford from Clevedon Town, bolstering the club’s attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Beresford brings with him an impressive goal-scoring pedigree. A one-club man for much of his career, he amassed 239 appearances and netted 146 goals for Uphill Castle in the Somerset County League. Notably, in his final six seasons with Uphill, he maintained an exceptional strike rate, scoring 115 goals in 133 appearances.
In 2023, Beresford made the step up to Clevedon Town, where he continued his prolific form. In his debut season, he scored 24 goals and provided 1 assist, earning the club’s Manager’s Player of the Season award. He followed this with another strong campaign, tallying 21 goals and 11 assists in the 2024/25 season, as Clevedon narrowly missed out on promotion in the playoff finals against Brixham.
Speaking to Bridgwater United’s media team following his move, Sam shared his excitement: “Excited to be joining Bridgwater, it’s a big club that deserves to be in the Southern league. After speaking with Laz it’s clear he has big things planned for this season and can’t wait to be part of it.”
Beresford’s consistent goal-scoring ability and experience at both county and league levels make him a valuable addition to the Robins. His arrival is expected to enhance Bridgwater United’s attacking prowess as the club aims for a successful campaign in the upcoming season.
